SSAA WGAA NSW

Formed in 1998, the Working Gundog Association of Australia was formed at the height of the gun debate when there was a real threat that hunting with trained gundogs may have been banned. Two decades later WGAA has trained hundreds of gundogs and has conducted innumerable events that have showcased the role that the trained gundog can play in helping to conserve and sustain game species in the modern world.

Based initially in Victoria we now have branches in Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia,New South Wales and Queensland. WGAA is now recognised in the canine world as a family friendly organisation that is determined to safeguard the instincts of the gundog in all its various iterations, whether retrieving, pointing or flushing game for those of us who enjoy following their dog in the fields and swamps of the Australian outdoors.

9th of May 2023 held in the Riverina

There were 10 dogs entered in the competition ranging in ages from 8 months old to 8 years old, the only requirement to enter the competition is that the dog has yet to compete in any field trials.
The handlers were made up of season compainers with over 18 years experience and first timers. To pass trial the dogs are required to show their ability to hunt, point and not be gun shy. 5 dogs passed on the day and are now eligible to compete in further trials.
The day was enjoyed by all and the new handlers were treated to tips by the experienced handlers throughout the weekend.
